Having to admit defeat!

I have just joined an open course about designing flexible learning. It looks a great course but I am afraid I am withdrawing. I am having a major, major PhD meltdown so can't attend to both things at the same time. Good luck to all who are doing the course.

Oh I am so sad, but totally understand. You must get the PhD done.

Its a matter of having to when your new supervisor tells you what you have been doing for the last 4 years is crap and you need to start again!!!

Nasty, nasty supervisor. You do need to get into this PhD thing though. You have committed to it and it is just a hard slog to get to the light at the other side of the tunnel. You know you can do it, you just need to head down and bum up. When you get there it will all be worth it, so go girl!
This being advice from one who has no intention of traveling down this road of course. I am impressed by your commitment and dedication to this.

No, the supervisor is great - she's just doing her job.

Thanks for your encouragement. Party at my house if/when I finish!

hint of optimism in that comment! are you going to be able to use the feedback to move through this to eventual success? Not the process you envisaged but to be philosophical - does it matter if you get to the end point eventually?

everything I have heard about PHDs reminds me of a master slave kind of relationship. You'd have to be a masochist who enjoys being dealt with by a sadistic super' to go into this PHD process I reckon. Keep it all in check Sarah :)

Just teasing (as usual) Maybe I'm more into that S&M stuff than you academics tend to be...

No worries about DFLP. It'll always be there, getting better all the way.

Yes, Leigh, I must admit I am struggling to keep my motivation up = not really sure why a PhD is worth all the heartache!
